Dr-Melissa-Glenda-Lewis

Dr Melissa Glenda Lewis

Dr. Lewis has worked on developing tool to measure complexities in population, intervention, context, and outcome in public health interventions studies. Her research involved using Bayesian approaches, which are not widely applied in the field of public health, to synthesize effect estimates from different study designs in systematic reviews of treatments published in the field. This method demonstrated how crucial it is to take into account the data from both stronger and weaker studies in order to produce well-founded public health recommendations. Since 2013, she has worked in data analysis of epidemiological and clinical investigations, meta-analysis, and systematic reviews. She has supervised eleven master's theses over her roughly five years of teaching experience.
As a biostatistician, she has worked on several funded research projects from the DBT-India Alliance, the London School of Tropical Medicine, the Government of Meghalaya, and CBM India. She has helped with sample size selection, study design, data collecting, and statistical analysis. She served as a biostatistician consultant to the Meghalaya government, analyzing the efficacy of the state's Social Audit programme in terms of data quality, baseline analysis, and statistical analysis of the outcomes. She is currently the co-PI of a study funded by Uppsala University through CRED-ASED titled "Determining cause of death profiles among vulnerable communities to improve health interventions: pilot test of a practical verbal autopsy tool."
She is proficient user of statistical tools, including WinBUGs, Tableau, R, SAS, SPSS, and STATA. She is able to independently offer statistical consultations at different phases of a research project.
